Activities at home

Ideas for activities you can do at home with your child.

We welcome new ideas. Here are ours:

1. Pour shaving cream in your child’s high chair for him/her to play with it.
    He will love it!

2. Make homemade clay. Mix 3 cups flour, 1 cup salt, 3 tablespoons of oil, and about1 cup of water with your hands. Add food coloring. Add more water until the dough is soft and smooth. After using, keep in a container with a lid. It will last a few weeks.

3. Make giant blocks.
Your child can color paper grocery bags. Stuff the bags with crumpled newspaper. Fold the opening down to make a box shape. Tape it shut.

4. Make bubble solution.
Mix 4 cups water, ½ cup liquid dish detergent, and a tablespoon of corn syrup.

5. Make finger paint.
Mix ½ cup cournstarch and 1 cup cold water. Pour into 3 cups boiling water. Keep boiling water away from your child. Stir until shiny. DO NOT ALLOW TO PLAY WITH IT UNTIL COOL. Add food coloring. Finger paint on trays or special shiny paper.

6. With a flashlight and some imagination you can create a story.
Turn the lights off, the flashlight on, and use your hands and fingers to create creatures or animals that tell a story with your child.

7. With a bed sheet you can make a tent and pretend you are camping in the forest with your child.

8. Create a funny song together.

9. Make a book together with, paper of different colors, about the things he/she likes, such as, his/her favorite color, animal, place, character, etc. Look for old magazines and cut off pictures he/she likes the most and glue them on the book. You could also draw them in the book.

10. Create an instrument:

a. Guitar: With an empty box and a rubber band around it.
b. Maracas: Empty plastic bottle with small un-cook pasta.
c. Drums: A spoon with pots and pans.

11. Dance, dance, dance! Silly if you dare.

12. Paper projects.
